A MARCA DA MAMÃE-LOBA

Putaquepariu! Ninguém esperava que em pleno século XXI, alguma banda ainda fosse capaz de fazer um som que emulasse os grandes clássicos como ‘Led Zeppelin’, ‘Black Sabbath’ e ‘Deep Purple’.

‘Wolfmother’ é uma mistura de tudo isso. Tem hora que Andrew Stockdalle parece um Ozzy Osbourne cantando, enquanto outras ele mais lembra Robert Plant – sem esquecer também Ian Gillian... E o som da guitarra? E os riffs? Está tudo ai... Não falta nada.

Hoje, a banda é um quarteto liderado por Stockdale na guitarra e voz, com Aidan Nemeth na guitarra base, Ian Peres no baixo e teclados, e Will Rockwell-Scott na bateria. Amanhã pode ter qualquer outra formação, uma vez que a veia pulsante é Stockdale e suas viagens.

Rockewell-Scott não gravou bateria no segundo disco da banda, ‘Cosmic Egg’. Quem tocou bateria foi Dave Atkins, que deixou o grupo amigavelmente.

Antes disso, o ‘Wolfmother’ era um trio, com Stockdalle, Chris Ross no baixo e teclados, e Dave Atkins na bateria. Mas os dois integrantes desistiram de acompanhar Stockdalle, por causa de “diferenças irreconciliáveis”.

Esses três caras, irreconciliávelmente diferentes, foram um dia ao menos amigos de boteco que tocaram juntos e faziam um som maneiro. O que é que pode ter causado essa irreconciliável indiferença entre eles?

Mas juntos eles gravaram um dos melhores discos de estréia (‘Wolfmother’) desde... Hummm, vejamos... Quem sabe o ‘Led Zeppelin I’ do ‘Led Zeppelin’, o ‘Black Sabbath’ do ‘Black Sabbath’ e até com o ‘In Rock’ do ‘Deep Purple’ (mesmo este sendo o terceiro disco de estúdio da banda, mas considerando o primeiro com a formação clássica – em estúdio porra!).

Felizmente para alegria geral e felicidade dos ‘ovidos’ da galera do rock, Stockdalle segura bem o segundo disco. ‘Cosmic Egg’ não chega ser melhor que o primeiro – devido também a surpresa que o som da banda causou quando surgiu – mas tem uma abertura matadora com duas porradas na sequência, ‘California queen’ e ‘New moon rising’.

Por isso aproveitando o ensejo dessa data comemorativa – o dia das mães. Segue um presente para os ‘ovidos’ de sua progenitora. Então não se esqueça de aumentar o volume no máximo para ‘ovir’ essa porrada toda!
